Jag har visserligen bara sett det här första klippet, men nog verkar Ripe TV och Puma ha fattat hur man presenterar segling för en bredare publik, riktigt bra produktion som man dessutom gör tillgänglig för bloggar mm, här ligger resten av gänget långt efter ... men de lär sig nog.

Här är ett virtuellt parallellfall från UK-Halsey med en röd Smaragd och en grå Folkbåt, i verkligheten fullföljer Smaragden rundningen på insidan, det gör den rätt i om den kan göra det utan att det uppstår sak eller personskada, blir det kontakt mellan båtarna är det ytterbåtens fel, om innerbåten tvingas köra på märket är det också ytterbåtens fel och innerbåten behöver inte ta något straff för den märkesberöringen, märkväl att regel 16 "När en båt med rätt till väg ändrar kurs skall den ge de andra båten plats att hålla undan" inte gäller i den här situationen, så ytterbåten gör bäst i att hålla ordentligt undan, utom räckhåll för innerbåten.

Förra årets totalvinnare av Round the Island Race, Edward Donald fick i år nöja sig med 2:a platsen, men det det är ju trots allt inte så illa bland 1750 startande, Folkbåten verkar funka ganska bra under IRC.

I have sailed small boats all my life. Every time I see Britain on a map it reminds me that I live on an island and have never sailed around it. So this year I have bought a boat and am taking it up the north sea and around the UK mainland.

There is another reason for this journey. My 19 year old son is walking the length of the ganges. This is the middle aged father getting even.

The boat I am using is a 19 foot Mirror Offshore - created by a British socialist newspaper as a yacht for the working man - its the nautical equivalent of a VW.

The camera is a £150 cannon mini DV - cheap enough that I won't cry if I drop it in the water.

The editing is quick and dirty. I have cut corners with the camera, the sound, not using a tripod. I know how to film and edit for broadcast in HD - but this is you tube.

The vids are a work in progress - the style is changing through the series in response to feedback from viewers.

Tjörn Runt är Sveriges i särklass största och viktigaste segling i fråga om medial uppmärksammhet, här bjuds ett gyllene tillfälle att visa upp Folkbåtsklassen ... eller tvärtom.
Även om vi betraktar Tjörnrunt som en vanlig, entyps Folkbåtsregatta,
så drar vi nytta av LYS-resultatet om det går tillräckligt bra, topplaceringar i Tjörn runt ger nämnligen mycket mer publicitet och respekt än vad något annat i seglarsverige kommer i närheten av, och det kan möjligtvis inspirera någon staketseglare till att skaffa sig en liten smidig Folkbåt för kappsegling och annat skoj, och att låta familjebåten med dess utrustning och inredning vara i fred.

Groupama 3 set off this Thursday 24th January at 07h 50' 17'' (GMT) from the start line of the Jules Verne Trophy attempt, a line defined by the alignment of Lizard Point (UK) and the Créac'h lighthouse (Ushant).

Franck Cammas and his nine crew must cross this same line after rounding the three capes before 15 March at 00 hours 09 minutes 21 seconds (GMT) in order to take the round the world record.

A sheared off port hull caused the French trans-oceanic trimaran Groupama 3 to capsize off the coast of Dunedin earlier today.

In an interview just broadcast on New Zealand television, skipper Franck Cammas explained that the hull beams initially sheared and then the whole port hull broke away causing the trimaran to capsize.

Sea conditions were described as moderate in the area with about five to seven metre seas running, with 30 kts of wind. According to a report on the Franck Cammas-Groupama website the leeward float beams fractured causing the leeward (port) hull to shear off.

The crew of Groupama 3 were interviewed on their return to shore in New Zealand but had some dramatic footage taken from on board the 30metre multihull during the rescue.

From the air the trimaran consisted of just two hulls with the port hull nowhere to be seen.

My brother sailing a opti from our sailing camp that we have riged with a Club 420 spinniker. WE got bored one day on our lunch break and decided to rig a couple extra sprits to the top of the mast and haul of the best opti that our camp had. We then took a club 420 spinniker and riged it to it. In the video i am video taping and my brother is sailing it. I am in a carolina skiff with a 25 hp yamaha motor. At the end i am on a full plane and he startes to get away from me. We did this a hobcaw yacht club, Mt Pleasent, SC USA 29401.
